The USEPA created a new rule affecting all public water systems. It requires that the service line from the water main to the water meter be verified as "non-lead" by October 2024. The APWRD staff will be field verifying service line material using equipment provided by the Florida Rural Water Association. Because the water system was initially constructed in the early 1960's there is little chance that any lead service lines were ever used in the Alligator Point water system.
